Carbon Neutral

PlanetSolar is Carbon Neutral

PlanetSolar, in partnership with MyClimate, is measuring its impact on the environment in terms of carbon dioxide CO2 emissions. PlanetSolar, in partnership with MyClimate, is measuring its impact on the environment in terms of greenhouse gas emissions, mainly CO2.

So we will compensate for all our CO2 emissions through the intermediary of MyClimate, a non-profit foundation encouraging the furthering of knowledge about the reduction of CO2 emissions. To this end we are noting all our journeys, whether by train, bus, plane or car and their impact in terms of carbon dioxide. We are also going to measure and compensate for the impact of building the boat.

Concrete measures

Amongst the concrete measures undertaken to reduce the impact of the project on the environment, the following should be noted:

  • The PlanetSolar website is hosted using solar energy on the Horus Networks servers. As solar energy is not available at night, the electrical network is used as a battery. However the energy supplied by the solar installation corresponds to about one and a half times the energy used by the computer infrastructure.

  • Since the summer of 2009 we have had electric bicycles (supplied by Easy Move for journeys in the surrounding areas).

  • As far as possible we are using energy-saving computers. Furthermore, our offices operate using the solar plant of our partner located on the roof of the buildings.
